Google Ads is one of the quickest ways to put your business in front of people who are ready to buy.
It is not the right fit for every business. But for many, it brings in enquiries that other marketing channels struggle to reach.
Here are three reasons Google Ads is worth considering, along with a few signs it may not suit you yet.
1. You Reach People While They Are Searching
Most advertising interrupts people. A radio ad or a social media post reaches people who were not looking for you.
Google Ads works the other way around. Your ad appears when someone types in a search related to what you sell.
A person searching “emergency plumber Joondalup” has a problem right now. If your ad appears at that moment, you are speaking to someone who is ready to call.
You choose the search terms you want to appear for. You can also choose where your ads show, down to a radius around your business or a list of suburbs. That means you are not paying to reach people outside your service area.
2. You Control the Spend and Can See the Results
You set a daily budget, and Google will not go far beyond it over a month. You can raise it, lower it or pause your ads at any time.
That makes it easy to scale up in your busy season, or to slow down when you are fully booked.
Google Ads is also very measurable. With conversion tracking set up properly, you can see which searches led to phone calls, form enquiries or sales, and what each one cost.
This is the part many businesses skip. Without accurate tracking, you are guessing. With it, you can put more money into what works and cut what does not.
3. It Works at Almost Any Budget
Large companies use Google Ads, but so do plenty of small local businesses.
A local business does not need to outspend national brands. It needs to show up for the right searches in the right area, with an ad and a landing page that give people a clear reason to get in touch.
Results can also come quickly. SEO usually takes months to build. A well-planned Google Ads campaign can start bringing in enquiries within days of going live.
Many businesses use both. Google Ads brings in work now, while SEO builds long-term visibility.
When Google Ads May Not Suit You Yet
Google Ads is not a magic fix. It may not be the right choice if:
- Very few people search for what you offer.
- Your website is slow, hard to use on a phone or does not explain your service clearly.
- You cannot handle more enquiries right now.
- Your budget is too small to get enough clicks to learn from.
If any of these apply, it is often better to fix the website first, or to start with a small test campaign.
Getting Started
A good campaign starts with research into the searches your customers use, what your competitors are doing and what a new customer is worth to you.
